Our commitment to a sustainable future

Targeted and measurable actions for responsible growth

For us at Messaggerie del Garda, sustainability takes the form of actions aimed at reducing the environmental impact of our services, enhancing the role of our employees and the link with the territory in which we operate, and building a responsible management model.

In our daily work, we integrate these values through measurable and consistent actions. With the commitment to build a more sustainable future for new generations.

ENVIRONMENT:
efficiency and innovation to protect the environment

We believe that protecting the environment is also our responsibility. For this reason, we adopt innovative and sustainable solutions in our operational and strategic choices, with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of our premises, vehicles and business processes.

Sostenibilità Environment

What we did

For our Euro 6 vehicles, we use environmentally friendly HVO diesel, which reduces emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional fossil diesel. We have also purchased trucks powered by LNG and B-fuel, which guarantee lower CO2 emissions.

We insulated the rooms and the roof, replaced the windows and doors of the workshop and the kegging department to reduce energy loss. In addition, we installed timed, temperature-controlled electric heat pumps to heat and cool the offices more efficiently, thus eliminating gas consumption.

We have divided the warehouse into sections with a view to improving energy efficiency, so that only the area dedicated to goods requiring higher temperatures is heated. In addition, we have carried out renovation work on the roof, insulation and fixtures.

We have replaced some LED lights in the offices, warehouses and outdoor area at all our sites.

We have placed reverse osmosis water purifiers in all our locations and provided customised water bottles to employees. In this way we have reduced the use of plastic bottles.

We have renewed the truck wash system to optimise the consumption of water, detergents and energy. In addition, thanks to a personal card, each driver can monitor his own consumption.

Our future commitments

We want to adopt digital tools to improve logistics planning and load optimisation, thereby reducing the environmental impact of transport.

The installation of photovoltaic systems in logistics centres to reduce CO2 emissions is being evaluated.

We plan to install photocells in our warehouses to detect people and vehicles for the rational use of electricity, as we have already done in the Calvignasco warehouse.

Sostenibilità social

SOCIAL:
our people and the link with the territory

We believe in the value of people and, through our social initiatives, we want to build a fair working environment that is attentive to the needs of employees, support the region and encourage a corporate culture based on respect, solidarity and equal opportunities.

What we did

We invest in the professional development of our team. We regularly organise courses on ADR regulations, SPIN technique for business skills, English language, using Excel, leadership management, time management, safety, problem solving, safe driving, using a defibrillator and much more.

To improve the quality of working life and promote work-life balance, we activate company conventions such as canteen service in Castiglione and customised rates for the swimming pool in Castiglione, local tour operators and hospitality facilities on Lake Garda.

We support local associations, local initiatives and sports teams in basketball, table tennis and off-road rallies as sponsors, promoting youth sport, culture and social inclusion. We also collaborate with schools and ITS to help young people enter the world of work.

We constantly support the Italian Red Cross, local associations that help our communities such as Soroptimist, TSDC, San Cristoforo, the Fiordaliso and Bucaneve cooperatives, and the Dielleffe nautical group.

We have implemented safety management systems and organise regular fire-fighting, tachograph, first aid and job-specific training courses, with the aim of training employees in risk prevention.

Through the annual equal opportunities questionnaire, we monitor the effectiveness of our internal policies to create an inclusive work environment, free of discrimination and prejudice, and capable of valuing talent in all its diversity.

Our future commitments

We have embarked on a structured path towards obtaining Gender Equality Certification (UNI/PdR 125:2022) by 2026.
The project for the implementation and monitoring of a Group-wide Gender Equality Management System was activated. An opportunity for organisational improvement, but also a strengthening of the company’s resilience and social responsibility.

GOVERNANCE:
ethics, safety and transparency in management

Good governance underpins the trust we build every day with our stakeholders. We adopt transparent practices, promote regulatory training and comply with European directives on safety, ethics and digitisation for a sound and responsible management model.

Sostenibilità Governance

What we did

We have completed our first assessment carried out by CyberVadis, an independent assessment platform that measures a company’s cybersecurity maturity. The result was very positive, confirming the seriousness with which we approach this issue. This result is the fruit of adopting best practices for IT security and the strategic choice of already certified partners, ensuring alignment with the highest industry standards.

Through the materiality questionnaire submitted to employees, customers and suppliers, we identified shared strategic priorities in order to build a sustainable and responsible path together.

We joined ETA – Ethical Transport Approach – to enhance the role of the driver and promote a more ethical approach to the management of travelling personnel.

Our future commitments

We have defined the objective of preparing the Organisational and Management Model pursuant to Legislative Decree 231/2001 (MOG) to strengthen the internal control system, prevent the risk of offences being committed, and promote a corporate culture of ethics, legality and transparency.

Certifications

Our high quality standards are attested by the certifications: UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 for quality, UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 for responsible environmental management and UNI ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety protection

Medaglia Ecovadis CLS Medaglia d'argento Ecovadis 2025EcoVadis Medals

We obtained the Gold Medal for CLS and the Silver Medal for Messaggerie del Garda.
These awards, given to 5% and 15% of the best companies assessed by EcoVadis in the 12 months prior to the award date, reflect the quality of the company’s sustainability management system and demonstrate its commitment to promoting transparency throughout the value chain.

Gender equality policy

We have adopted a Gender Equality Policy to promote a corporate culture based on diversity, inclusion and gender equality, in line with UNI/PdR 125:2022.

We are committed to ensuring equality between men and women at all stages of the employment relationship, to organising training programmes on equal opportunities and to consistently disseminating the principles of our policy, both within and outside the organisation.

To ensure the effective adoption and application of this Policy, we have appointed a dedicated Guiding Committee, chaired by a Gender Equality Officer.
